Aloha! Thank you for taking the time to look at this blog! I, Katelyn Chu (or “Katy” to my friends). will be posting about my scientific endeavors here. I am working toward being involved in scientific research, particularly that which pertains to cancer. Ever since my great-uncle died of lung cancer when I was in 4th grade, I have been determined to find a cure for cancer. I am beginning to understand that cancer’s complexity is what makes it so difficult to cure; nonetheless, I am still determined to, at the very least, invest my energy into researching cancer treatments. I graduated from St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California, in June 2020. Go Lancers!!!  I am currently a freshman at Caltech. Go Beavers!!!  My academic interests include biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. My hobbies include: Cross Country, Track, Diving, Taekwondo, and the carnival ladder game where I can win large stuffed animals for kids in need.   I might still be a bit young and therefore have fewer opportunities for research available to me, but I have still been hard at work, completing science experiments, research reports, and more outside of the classroom during my spare time. Enjoy!
